First in a long time.....

This is my first official blog in months and I think it is long overdue .

I am in the process of reading one of Max Luccadas books and when I say one I mean it is the only one I have ever read . The man has written hundreds of books . It seems like he has a new book every month . In one chapter ( Of Calluses and Compassion ) of this book, Max goes on to tell of a famous painting of Holman Hunt and I know everybody has seen it .

The picture is of Jesus standing at a door and knocking . Nothing special you might ask, but if you can look closer, you will notice that there is no handle on the outside of the door . Weird, right ? Not really .

The picture is a representation of what it's like when Jesus decides to come into our hearts . He doesn't force His way in, although I will admit it sometimes would be better that way . He just stands there knocking and waiting, knocking and waiting, knocking and wai....You get the idea .

He will ONLY enter when we open the door from the inside .He gives us the choice to let Him in and when we do our world will never be the same .

I have recently come across some areas in my own life that have made me stop and think .Some areas that I know God wants me to get off my chest, but my pride is a powerful monster . I also know that God is bigger than these " monsters " and all I need to do is let Him take them and throw them away into the sea of forgetfulness .

I'm sorry :(

My daughter and I went to Ichthus ( a Christian music festival ) this year and one of the speakers was apologizing for NOT being more productive for the Kingdom of God .

I would like to do the same now.

To all those who I've said I would pray for..... I'm sorry. I haven't been doing that.
To my wife.....I'm sorry for not being the husband you deserve.
To my kids.....I'm sorry for being the Dad you need.
To my parents......I'm sorry for not being the son you need in this phase of your lives.
To my friends....I'm sorry for not keeping in touch better.

Last, but should have been first, to God.......I'm sorry for "dropping the ball" in reaching others for You for my entire life, for not praying to You on a daily basis, for not reading Your word. Believe me when I say that I know within my heart of hearts, that You are the giver of eternal life, but my life definitely does not show it.

I could go on for days on this subject, but I think I will stop for now .

As always, God controls all

My Bad.....and I can't say that enough !

Since February 27....that was my last post .
How sad is that ?!

Oh well, it's not the end of the world.....at least not today :)

To make things short for right now, I would like to make a comment that one of the speakers said at Ichthus this year ....." I apologize for not being who I said I would be "...or something to that effect .

When I get the time and energy to sit and blog something " worthy ", I will .

But until then, Jesus rules !!

Are you kidding me ?!?!

What in the world has professional Baseball come to ?

First off we have Alex Rodriquez .
Arguably one of the best baseball players of our time . Some would say ever . He was one of my favorites. I put the emphasis on "was". Back in 2003 he signed a ludicrous deal with the Texas Rangers for the highest salary ever by a player, then said that he did it for the love of the game . WHAT !?!? Now he is labeled as a player that used illegal drugs during his time there . Love of the game huh ?

Next we have Manny Ramirez
Again one of the fan favorites and one of mine . He gets offered a contract for 2 years 35 million dollars back during the election and what does he do ? HE REJECTS IT !! Are you kidding me?! Says he won't play for less than 25 Million a year . So they offer him 1 year at 25 million . He declines that ! Newest offer was 2 year at 45 MILLION DOLLARS !!!!! Guess what .....he declines that !!!!

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the game of Baseball, but this is getting to the point that I would rather get regular Joes who would play just to play the game and have no super stars .

Apparently they haven't heard about the recession . Neither have the Yankees, but that's a blog for another time .

This blog is presented by the letter "S"

Two words that start with the letter " S " are Surgery and Snow and I had both done within the last 2 weeks .

My surgery went real smooth except for the excessive talking I did coming out of surgery.

Not alot to talk about except everything got fixed and now starts the fun part THERAPY !!

Now, snow is the other word that starts with " S " and boy did we get it. This is a creek close to our house and it was beautiful .

My daughter Taylor has a good eye when it comes to photography . We were having some fun .

Since I can't do any excessive lifting, my wife Kim decided to help Jacob with an igloo . He made it just big enough o fit inside of it .

This was the first real snow that Jacob has ever seen being that he is only 6 .

I thank God we didn't loose power and we also managed to stay warm . Hope to see one last good snow before the Spring shows up .

" How many did I score ? "

I was at work last night when Ky played Tn.
We would turn on the radios in the cars as they were coming down the line and turn it to the game .
I have to admit, I didn't know if anyone else was playing . The entire time we were listening to the game, the only name it seemed we were hearing was the name of JODIEEEEE MEEEEEKS !!

He made 15 of 22 baskets with 10 of those baskets being 3 pointers and he was 14 for 14 from the free throw line for a grand total of 54 points !!!!
That's the school record . The previous holder was Dan Issel back in 70. That is the same year I was born . He also broke Tony Delk's record for 3 pointers made .

I really wish I could have seen it, but it was just as fun listening to it .

The Best Way To End The Year .

If you have read any of my blogs, you would know that I love to fish . It really doesn't matter what time of the year it is, if there is water it will be fished .

Me and some buds from church started a new tradition last year. We decided to go fishing at the end of the year . In the wintertime I have decided that you don't catch more fish, but you do catch bigger fish . We left on the Monday before New Year's and fished until Tuesday evening at Laurel River Lake in London, Ky.
This was the fish I caught on Monday . It's a 15 inch,
2 and a half pound Spotted Bass or as we call them here in Ky, a Kentucky Bass .Now I know that doesn't sound huge, but when it comes to " Spots ", that's a big one . Their metabolism is slower than any other species of bass . This was the only fish caught on Monday on the account that we were only able to fish about 2 or 3 hours .

Tuesday was a great day for fishing . I caught this one about 10 am . This largemouth bass was 19 inches long and weighed 5 pounds . It is the biggest largemouth I've caught in probably 15 years . It was a beautiful fish .

Then 10 minutes later, I caught this Monster. The picture does not do this fish justice .It is a smallmouth that measured 20 inches and weighed 6 pounds . That is the biggest smallmouth I have ever caught .
Day wasn't over yet !!

I then caught this " smallie " at about 3 pm . It measured 20 inches and weighed in at 5 pounds and 2 ounces . Another great fish .

All in all, it was a great way to end the year that was 2008 !

Can't wait to see what 2009 holds for me .
Things that I am looking forward to this next year is the adoption for my 2 dear friends . Jeff and Holly Prosser are expecting their little girl from Ethiopia some time this year. Can't wait to meet her !
