My Granny

I told you a while back that my Granny was in the hospital with pneumonia.
The good news is the pneumonia is gone, the bad news is that she is still not "awake".

Me and the fam went to Greensburg to see her. I never, ever, thought that I would ever see my Granny in that state. It seems that when she went into a Diabetic Coma(it had dropped down to 27, normal is 90), she suffered brain damage. Not total brain damage, but enough to paralyze her right arm, her face, and cause her not to be able to wake up. That's a total bummer.
The Granny I know would have gotten made at us if she knew we were upset.
It's hard to accept the fact that the one you remember will more than likely never wake up again.

There is a bright side to this situation. She loves God and everything about Him. Alot of my faith has to with her. When my Grandfather passed away about 16 years ago, she carried on only to know that she would see him once again in Heaven.
I know she misses him.

Anywho, now I'm in the process of waiting to receive the "phone call".
I love my Granny and my entire family for that matter.

My Dad

My Dad was taken to the hospital the Saturday before Thanksgiving because he could not move his legs.
Weird huh?

They did an X-Ray and CT Scan and found a tumor that was "pinching" his spinal chord, therefore his legs were not receiving signals from the brain.

They started radiation and steroids that same day and he was admitted into
St. Joseph Hospital onto the same floor that my wife works on. That's a God thing!!

Anyway, he was there for about 3 weeks, with radiation and steroids every day.
They shrunk the tumor down to nothing. In fact, the last scan that they did, did not show anything. Again, a God thing.

He then went to Cardinal Hill for therapy. He was there for about 1 week and then they sent him home in time for Christmas. Once again, God!!

As you can see from the picture, he is able to stand with some assistance. This time it happened to be me and my "baby" brother.

My Dad means the world to me. He has taught me so many things that I can't even begin to name half of them. The most "fun" thing he ever taught me was how to fish. I still love to fish. in fact, this year I'm learning how to fly fish.

I love you Dad!

A semi- sad moment in time

I got a call from my Aunt Nancy.
She had some "bad" news.

My grandmother is in the hospital with pneumonia in both lungs,
congestive heart failure ( not sure what that means, but it doesn't sound good )
and one more thing, she's non responsive.
She's moving her hands and feet, but she won't open her eyes.

My "granny" is a very special woman to me.
She was the one that taught me how to talk because my parents couldn't, being deaf and all.
She could also out hunt anybody. I'm totally serious!
She one of the strongest Christian women I know.
I know she misses my grand father who passed away about 17 years ago, but she would never admit it.
Heaven will get one of the greatest cooks when she gets there.
Yea, I know we won't eat up there, but you get the idea.

Anywho,if your the praying type, pray for healing, whether temporary or eternal

FINALLY !!!!!

It happened, it really happened !
We got snow!!!!!!
And I'm not talking about a light dusting.
A legitimate 6 or 7 inches of the white stuff.

We could have gotten a lot more, but the system decided that northern KY and Louisville needed it more. Oh well! It was great to wake up while it was still dark ( about 5:30 a.m. ) and notice that it was quite bright outside.
I "ran" to the front window to look outside and low and behold it snowed. It was still snowing too. In fact, it's been snowing for the most part of the whole day.

My kids and I decided to take part in the festivities and play outside. My wife had to go to work at 6:30 this morning, so we played for her

What's that smell ? and other ramdom stuff

I was outside today throwing a " tennis " ( pretend it's a baseball ) to Jacob and as he was sending the ball whizzing by my head,

I caught it.

Not the ball because they were flying by my head at a velocity that only Greg Maddux could have even attempted of catching it.

The smell. The smell that reassures me that Spring is right around the corner.
STEAKS ON THE GRILL!!!!

I never though that I would smell that ever again. Steaks on the grill are a man's best friend, next to his wife, kids, "real" friends, and of course his God and by that I mean THE ONE TRUE GOD.

TA TA for now

The week that was

What a week it's been.

Saturday while I was out at one of church member's house helping clean up tree
branches that fell down, I got a call from a good friend of mine.
Turned out he had an extra ticket to the UK/Arkansas game.

Of course I went, but it was bitter sweet.
After the game in which UK won, I asked Jacob ( my 5 year old son ) how his game went. It's his first year playing
He told me he scored. I wasn't there to witness Jacob's first ever score.
That's why UK's win was OK, not great

Tuesday at Taylor's Basketball " banquet " ( we had pizza there ), they gave out awards. My "baby" girl got the Offensive Player of the Year award. She rocked this year. Best year she ever had. She's the starting point guard at her school.

To end such an awesome week on a downer is such a bummer though.
Yesterday, the Big Blue nation found out it's star player, who is s freshman, is out for the rest of the year with a fracture in his foot. Could this year in UK basketball possibly get any more disappointing? I doubt it.

Anyway that's pretty much my week in a nutshell. With the exception of all the eating and sleeping.
